This coming Winter Season will be the first time we present the "Ron Miller MVP Award".
The announcement was made at last night's Presentation Night where Ron Miller was present to accept the honour. Ron has been an icon of darts in South Australia and Australia for many decades. He was elected to the SADA committee back in 1982 and awarded SADA life membership in 1993. With more than 50 years as a member of SADA, there is no doubt he deserves this honour of a significant award in his name that will run in all three SADA divisions.
The award will be based on statistical data to find the player who has had the most significant impact on the league for the season. The statistical formula will generate a number of points for every player every week. It will be updated through our regular stats sheets and summary page that appears on our website and here on Facebook every week. The points are calculated primarily on singles average and win percentage with a small amount of bonus points for other stat categories. It is designed so it is fair to players no matter whether they play four games a night or five games a night. It favours players who play regularly as it uses a cumulative total score rather than an average score. The more you play, the more valuable you’ve been, and therefore more worthy of winning the Ron Miller Most Valuable Player Award.
Ron spoke to the crowd of SADA Members last night, giving his endorsement to the award's format, and saying he was proud to see SADA was on the rise again.
Below are examples of how the Ron Miller MVP Award will be displayed in the website stats section and the summary sheet on the Results page.
